And the cowgirl rides again…

My little lady is my horse girl!  She would rather ride her quarter/pony Sage them to play with her dolls. Any opportunity to ride she is there!

Earlier this week she had an opportunity to ride.  Some other little girls were at our house while their dads were riding.   I was just going to take turns leading the girlies on Sage.

The two older little ladies (mine and another one) wanted to ride by themselves. They both know how so I let those two ride by themselves.  In between their rides I would lead the smaller little lady around the arena.  After about an hour and a half my little lady rode for the last time-she rode to the other side of the arena.

She was having a blast I turn around the corner on my eye I see the 19-year-old pony/quarter horse bucking…with my little lady on her.  I was running toward them yelling: oh sh*t, oh sh*t…

(Side note here her horse riding teacher trains her to ride two-handed on the rains and not use the horn so she didn’t grab the horn).

SO A RECAP:  One buck, two buck, three buck THEN my little lady is on the ground.  That pony bucked 3 times and my little lady stayed on without holding the horn.   WHAT!

My little lady landed on her belly-dirt all over her body!  She was fine; just a little rattled. As she was crying and I was hugging her very tight!  I told her she had to get back on—-

There were other people in the arena that helped me coax her back on.

After a prayer that she wouldn’t be fearful she got back on—then I RAN inside with her—and gave her a warm bath!!

The part that is so amazing is she didn’t have fear—-she wanted to get back on HER horse! And she didn’t want her trainer to be mad at her horse…

Another proud mama moment!

As she lay next to me about that night–I couldn’t let her sleep in her own bed after the bucking incident–she said, “Mommy are you disappointed in me?”   I asked her why she thought that???  I was amazed that she was thinking that!

My little lady thought that since she didn’t stay on, I would be disappointed. How does a four-year-old grasp that concept?

I explained her over and over again that night that I was so proud of her that she was such a big girl!

And I also told her the next time if it ever happens that she needs to grab the saddle horn!

A couple days later when it was time for her training lesson I was even more proud that she got back up on that horse and had no problems the entire lesson.

When she was done with her lesson I had a toy zebra waiting for her she fell asleep with her arm around that hard zebra last night.

zebra

Ever since then the zebra now goes everywhere with her—Walmart, the barn, kitchen table, bathroom…

What a GREAT little lady I have.  She amazes me daily!

Thanks for reading!

Hillbilly Returns

We were almost to our stopping place for the night and needed gas. So hubs gets gas and then backs up; then pulls forward and turns-CRUNCH and the sound of glass breaking. Hubs turned too much and the fifth wheel ran into my beautiful red truck (okay dented my cab and broke out one of the back windows)…OMGOSH. Maybe there were some stronger, worse words used, but my beautiful red truck…

And really POOR HUBS. He feels terrible. I sat in the truck and let him cool down why he cleaned up the mess. The little lady was a lot shaken up since the window was right behind her car seat. Thank GOD she didn’t get hurt! She kept talking about how the crunchy glass was very scary (I think if the Chihuahua could talk she would have said the same thing-as she was worked up too!).

Hubs taped up the window with a piece of cardboard and duck tape. Hubs gets in the truck and says, “Now our truck looks like we are hillbillies too.” I forgot to mention the duck tape is bright a** red. Hubs initially thought this would blend in with the truck. Seriously, I think the standby grey duck tape would have looked better instead of looking like we tried to match the truck and HELLO there is a piece of cardboard where glass goes. LOL!

As we drove on in our journey toward home I thought three things about what happened:
1). Thank GOD my little lady is okay and just a little worked up.
2). Thank GOD Hubs and I are okay
3). Thankfully there is NO damage to the 5th wheel as we are trading it in on a living quarters horse trailer TOMORROW!
AND A BONUS: Someday Hubs and I will laugh our a**es off about this trip and how he dented the cab of my truck blah, blah, blah…or maybe I will just tease him about it. I will let you all know when we start laughing about it-or teasing-I am sure it will be a while!

Grams

Hubs and I drove Grams (My dad’s mom) home last night (to assisted living). Hubs was driving and our little lady was in the back, seated next to her Grandma Greatsy!

grams and i

I put my phone in my purse and just listened to them in the back. I was trying to etch their conversation in my mind to keep for all time! The little lady was talking to her great grandma about how Grandma greatsy could borrow her Dora Dora pink blanket. Grandma Greatsy could bring it back to Wyoming and come visit us (we were visiting in Phoenix). Then when Grandma Greatsy came to visit she could sleep with the little lady. Their chit chatting when on and on.

Brought me back to when I was little and how intently this same Grandma would listen to me. How she would watch me swim in her pool, how she bought me my first cabbage patch doll that I wanted so badly, how her and Gramps would take my brother and I to Circus Circus to play the games almost every summer after their visit to Wyoming, how I learned to ski with Gramps and Grams in their boat as a young child… I have so many great memories of her (and the late Gramps). It is sad to think her mind is going now…but I try to ease the sadness with all we did together when I was also younger. I am also glad my little lady has grams name and has gotten to meet Grams!

Last night before we took her home the family was sitting around my auntie’s dining table talking about the past and Grams said, “Everyone gets old…We can either be happy or sad-I chose to be happy!” That is also true of life isn’t it?

Once again THANK YOU for spending your time with me!

Having it all? Possible?

Are you one of “THOSE” women who want to have it all?
I AM ONE OF THOSE WOMEN! I want to have happy, successful children, a happy hubs (of course), a set of busy businesses (why stop at two or three), have plenty of time to ride my horses…Time of course is the limiting factor. I am sure you deal with this on a daily basis as well. Boy can it be tiring…

This morning I thought I would “take it easy,” stay in my jammies, drink some coffee, do some computer work…Then I got to the office and all hell broke loose! Offers coming in, callings coming in for ads, appointments to take care of. I LOVED IT! Fortuantly when life is like this during the day I thrive in it. My brain seems to fire faster and my mind just goes on and on. But now I am TIRED!

So tonight I have an “appointment” with my little lady and jr peepette. We are making our own pizzas. As kind of a controlling Wild Woman, I have pledged to myself that I will let the little lady and the peepettes make as big of a mess as they want, put as much cheese and pepperoni (and olives for the little lady) as they want on their pizza in any order. This will be hard for me but I have told myself that I will concentrate on making my pizza PERFECT! They are going to have a blast-and we will have sauce, pepperoni, cheese and olive slices all over the counter and floor.
BUT when I clean it all up (or Hubs does and I watch drinking my glass of wine-just joking but it sounded nice) I will remember the fun we had not being all that perfect!

THE DAY AFTER : PIZZA NIGHT TURNED OUT AWESOME!Kids had a blast and I think their food tasted better since they made it!

Rough Around the Knees!

I actually thought that my little lady would be easier on clothes that the JR and SR Peepettes (my boys). My little lady LOVES clothes as much as I do. Yesterday we took a trip to Gymboree to look at the sale rack. Thankfully the peepettes realize t hat I buy more clothes when they are on CLEARANCE. I was not so lucky with my little lady yesterday.

My little lady always needs pants. It may be due to her always either pretending she is a horse or a zebra and crawling around on her knees. Of course I think it is FANTASTIC that she has such a GREAT imagination. When she is not pretending to be horse she is playing with the rest of her toy horses, still crawling around on her knees. (and boy can she make noise running her play horses around!). So off we went to Gymboree on the search for pants long enough for my very tall little lady-skinny little waist and long legs make this a very large task! Of course the day we need pants, they are very scarce on the clearance rack.

Quickly she finds a horse long sleeve shirt that she has to have-thank goodness it is WAY on sale (she thinks that she NEEDS and HAS to have anything with a horse on it-almost every shirt she owns is marked with some type of horse). Then from across the store she runs to the panties-not sure how she saw the littlest horse ever on one of the pair of 7 undies at over $20! So my little lady has a melt down over undies. I need to find my own iron on horse and just iron on her current undies at that price. LOL!

We did find some sort of skinny pink pants-Hubs doesn’t really like the skinny jeans, but needs to get with the style. I finally did. Don’t expect to see Hubs wearing any skinny jeans EVER! But your little lady and I like them Hubs!

Treat Our Barn As Your Own!

You all would have laughed last night.

For the first time since we have moved to our new place we had horse boarders for the weekend-8 of them-A FULL HOUSE! We were VERY excited! Hubs worked most of the day to make the barn shine (or as much as a barn can shine)-seriously it is the cleanest I have ever seen it. Thanks Hubs! And the Little Lady helped as you can see!!!

Little Lady

Yesterday (and today for that matter) was COLD. Add the wind on top of that and it is miserable. It was dark when the first four horses (and there owners) arrived at 10 pm (but we didn’t mind as we were super excited to have them come to our place). We have a huge hill down to the barn so the long horse trailers with living quarters have a hard time turning around. Parking at the top or backing down is the only option.

Since it was dark I thought I would help them take the horses down to the barn since they parked at the top. Out comes the first horse bundled up so much that I couldn’t even tell what color they were. Horsey jammies, neck and body blanket and tail wraps on every horse. They looked really cute and warm. Warmer than I was! I was actually thinking being all wrapped up would feel great about then. The wind was blowing mock 50. It was blowing my coat hood off-and I was cussing silently because it was COLD (seriously I need to step outside in advance and find out what I need to wear!!!)

Our super warm visitors helped us in two ways this weekend: 1). of course we made some $$$! 2). We realized how FUN it is to meet other horse owners that love their horses as much as we love ours!
stall barn
Hubs says that this picture of the barn (that he took) does not really show how clean he had the barn-but I told Hubs, “Now we have horse guests so it doesn’t matter (I did say it lovingly!).

What a weekend we are having!

VERY FUNNY!

My mom use to tell me “Life is lumpy” when something didn’t go right (Mom I love you!). That was one of they many things I use to tell everyone that I WOULD NEVER SAY! HAHA! The first time I said that to one of my peepettes, and every subsequent time I say it, I quickly cover my own mouth-shocked it comes out. AHHHHH!

Horsey, Horsey, Who Has a Horsey?

Ever since I was very little I wanted a nice, expensive horse.  It took about 30 years but I finally got exactly what I wanted.  My little lady (smallest child) caught on VERY quick at then two years old.  She became infatuated with horses-and by infatuated I mean live horses, pictures of horses, figurines of horses, stuffed animals of horses, games with horses (HORSES ON IPOD) ect…

Recently she went to my bestie’s house for the evening and came home wanting fuzzy horses.  Good thing I helping Santa get my bestie’s kids the fuzzy horses so I knew what the hell they were-after being reminded of course-ya I know-something I should have remembered.  So thankfully our trusty go to site had another set (by set I mean TWELVE MORE FIGURINES of horses) that could be two day shipped for FREE.  (I love free shipping and deals on stuff-and-I can’t help it as I come by being frugal genetically).

I wish I could find all the horse figurines in my house so I could  actually publish how many we have.  It may be a new record.  (I have been working on a record of my own for real horses in the barn but we won’t talk about that).

My little lady is starting riding lessons soon.  She already thinks she knows how to ride but it consists of her going where the horse wants to go.  But at least she is riding by herself (WITH A HELMET ON).  I have taught her a few things but as we all know the little ladies do not learn best from the MOMMY!

I have also always wanted to run barrels.  While I am working on that, I of course (as most competitive parents do) want to live (at least a little) through my kiddos!  So I ask my little lady if she is going to run barrels on a horse when she grows up-she says (and has since she was two) that she will run barrels ONLY if she can also do breakaway roping.  Yes she has know what breakaway roping was since she was 2.5 years old.   I am so glad that she has the horse fever like me…even if it means we have 500 horse figurines!
