One of the things taught by Gramps!

HIT IT!

Those were the words the family yelled often from behind the boat on skis, boogie board (the family favorite) or tubes in the summers at Shaver Lake in California.  Gramps would not accelerate the boat until he heard those words!

The smell of the gas and water on our current boat instantly takes me back to Gramp’s boat and the fun we had.  He pulled my cousins and I all over that lake.  It was such a treat for my brother and I to get to go to Shaver Lake with Grandma and Grandpa as we lived in Wyoming.  We would get to go every summer to Bakersfield, CA and hang out with our grandparents for and other family for a couple weeks.  And besides the skiing and boogie boarding we had a blast camping!  Grandma would pack “cokes” and tons of snacks and we spent the day on the boat.  I learned to ski behind that 1970 something boat.  I am not sure how many times my aunt helped me in the water to learn how to ski, but I am pretty sure it was a ton of times!

Today out on the lake I was thinking of the first time Hubs and I took our boat out-I remember skiing that weekend-getting up on the first try on my new skis purchase right after the boat!  When I got back in the boat the first person I called was Gramps to tell him about it-it had been well over 15 years since I had skied behind his boat or any boat for that matter!  He was proud that we were carrying on the boating tradition and told me it was a great way to spend time with family.

I wished I could call him today after the boys rode on the tub together (it was so funny you had to be there to see their faces and hear their loud laughter above the sound of the boat motor) and were going in and out of the wake, but I know he was watching from above and laughing along with us.

As I looked at Hubs driving our boat I can’t help but think of my Gramps.  Gramps rarely let anyone else drive the boat (like Hubs), Gramps would drive around the lake pulling kids on tubes at nauseum (like Hubs), Gramps was one of the most patient men I have ever met (almost like Hubs-LOL-he lack of patience most likely due to his high strung wife-LOL!), Gramps only got all the way in the water when the heat was beyond squelching (again like my Hubs!).

The boyzees and my little lady had a blast at the lady.  Until next time at the lake….

Nice seeing you all today!

P.S.  The three Chihuahuas had a blast at the lake too.  We park on “Sandy Beach” which is my little lady’s favorite place to play in the water (while hubs waxes the boat ).  Little Angus was swimming around.  It was funny to see my little 3 lb Chihuahua swim in a lake.  The 3 chis ran along the water and through the sand (of course getting  covered) until the were to tired to run anymore!

P.S.S The boyzees and my little lady are already asking if we can go back to the lake tomorrow – which is not slightly possible-but cute.  Hubs and I are super glad they had a good time!

P.P.S. Stay tuned as in the next couple of days we will have a free offer that we know you will LOVE!!!!

Retaliation by the Chihuahua

[wpvideo InBhClMc]

Every night I go to bed before Hubs. The mama Chihuahua (Icy Girl)then gets off Bob’s lap to get in bed right next to me-sometimes I think that these dogs actually mirror humans. Icy puts her head on the pillow and has her body under the blanket-

Hubs usually take Icy with him during the day and the babies stay home. Lately he hasn’t taken her with him as has been super busy. We didn’t think Icy really cared one way of the other.

That was until one night Icy was pacing the bed. I was half asleep and thought she was just trying to find the perfect place to lay that night. What she was really doing is pooping on Hubs side of the bed. What the heck!!

Hubs woke me up as he was completely disgusted! I could help but laugh out loud – of course I wouldn’t be laughing if she had pooped on my side of the bed – but the fact that she actually knew where she was pooping and whose side of the bed was the funniest to me (and i quickly went back to sleep!).

Needless to say, Hubs has resumed taking Icy with his wherever he goes during the day. And she has not relieved herself on his side of the bed.
It is a good thing we love these little doggies. I am amazed everyday how loving and just stinking adorable these dogs are! Hubs told me last night that he thought I was crazy when I told him I wanted a Chihuaha – now he can’t imagine our lives without them. We are so glad we are now Chihuahua OWNERS!

Thanks for reading!

Can a dog bone be too BIG?

Chihuahuas are one of the best breeds EVER. I have always wanted a little dog, but never had one. About 10 months ago I found one online in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. After convincing hubs that we needed a second dog (that was an inside dog); after over 3 hours on the phone with the owner making sure she was potty trained (hubs REQUIREMENT); and making sure she fit our kiddos, we met a lady in Chugwater, Wyoming. Right after the lady hands ICY to me she says, “I forgot to tell you she might be pregnant.” WHAT! ARE YOU KIDDING!

I turn directly to the hubs and ask, “WHAT THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO DO NOW?” I am genuinely surprised when he says, “Get her anyway.” At this point I am thinking that he is crazy or just wants to get this dog because A). He knows I have already fallen in love with her (I like this thought the best), OR B). He is just thinking about this inexpensive Chihuahua.
If he thought B he had a rude awaking when poor little ICY had a C-Section in the middle of the night (while hubs was sleeping). And he probably passed out (as I did) when we got the bill for a C-Section in the middle of the night.

Miss ICY had 5 pups. Only two ended up making it (too long and too sad of a story of my pre-mature pups). The three kiddos, hubs and I couldn’t let those little pups out of our sight and now are part of the fam! The little girl is Loretta Lynn and the little boy is ANGUS. Loretta definitely likes hubs better than me, BUT ANGUS is my little guy!

angus one

Which brings me finally to my point! Angus is the smallest (at 2.7 lbs-his sister is almost 8 lbs). (And yes a farm girl can have a VERY small dog). He LOVES and I mean LOVES chewing on rawhide bones. And he doesn’t care what size. I was running out of bones today so I gave him one of the larger ones I had. He didn’t miss a beat. He just went crazy chewing on it. He even argued with his sister (in a very snotty way) when she was trying to share it with him.

angus bone

So I think next time I go to the feed store I am going to buy a dog bone larger than him and see what he does!

I bet he takes it on with the attitude (He may be little but he is mighty!) that he can CHEW IT UP!
