My Daddy O, My HERO!

Just got some not so good news…  My dad needs surgery to get ready for dialysis.  He is my hero, my best friend-my biggest cheerleader-so many times he has urged me on when I felt like I couldn’t succeed at something, my little lady’s everything, my boyzee’s favorite guy, adored by my HUBS.  He goes to every hockey game, basket ball game, sorting, gymkana, little lady’s horse riding, EVERYTHING he can attend that involves his family.

I know I am lucky to still have him (and I thank God everyday for him!).  He isn’t in the best health even without the kidney probs.  I just want more time-more time to make more memories, more time to hug him, more time to tell him I love him again!  It may be a couple months to a year before he needs dialysis but most likely sooner than later.  I can’t imagine not having him with me.  Not sure how I will ever get over not having him around.  I know I need to make the time I have left with him the best.  I pray that he will be one of the guys that thrives and is okay with the dialysis.

One of the best (and sometimes the worst) qualities about my dad is that he is stubborn and has very strong convictions (these are his words, not mine).  I pray he becomes okay with dialysis and doesn’t end up feeling bad about it.  I have inherited this stubborn gene from him so I can usually help him not feel bad as I want him to be comfortable and happy through this life!

My dad was amazing in my childhood.  I am pretty sure he never missed anytime I swam a race, showed my piggies and lambs, recited the FFA Creed, sold apples to make money for our 4-H club (my dads truck was filled every year with boxes of apples I had sold almost every house from town to our home out of town!) and EVERYTHING else I did-I was a busy kid!

One of my favorite memories with my dad is when my mom would go out of town he would make the most incredible homemade potato chips.  My brother and I would eat an entire 5 lb bag of potatoes expertly sliced and fried by my dad.  He made a dip from Pace Picante Sauce and sour cream that was to heavenly!  We would watch movies most of the night and eat these amazing chips!

My dad has the LOUDEST VOICE!  He would sit in the stands watching me swim at the State Championships finals.  I remember being on the swim block getting ready to start my race and he would yell, “GO BLONDIE” (a nickname from high school given to me by a swim coach).  I remember the feeling of pride I had that my dad was watching me and I was making him proud!

So here is to making memories with our friends and families while we are all on this earth!  I am so thankful to God that this fantastic man is my daddy o and my kiddos PAPA!  Hugs!

How about that COWGIRL!

our little ladyMy little lady has become really into music.  Her favorite for the last 6 months (or since the album came out) Miranda Lambert, “This Ain’t My Mamas Broken Heart!”  Even before it was on the radio I  played it from my iPhone multiple times a day!  Now my little lady thinks the radio plays her favorite song for her!

So Miranda’s song was her favorite song until Hubs played, “How Bout Them Cowgirls” by George Strait.  My little lady LOVES IT!  After it was over she asked Hubs, “I know he (George Strait) is singing that song for me, but why isn’t he using my name instead of cowgirl?”  Hubs and I are still laughing about this! Hubs said to our little lady, “He is singing that song to you and calling you COWGIRL!”

I love the things my little lady says!  She is my little cowgirl!

Some days you are the windshield and some days you are the bug!

Today my husband was the bug and I was the windshield but not at the same time.

I started my day with a fresh blank of white snow a fresh mind and a new day. I finished my work from home around noon and now my day begins to get crazy. It has snowed two days out of three-and last night/this morning it really dumped on us-over 6 inches on top of the 6 we got the day before (which some spots is higher or lower depending on the drifts the snow made yesterday). Hubs hadn’t gotten our main road plowed completely.

As I am pulling up the hill that takes me to our road I see Hubs backing his trailer down the hill-slowly-all of the sudden the trailer and truck slide and he jackknifes the truck and trailer-which crushed the dually wheel well fender and really dented the front corner of the enclosed trailer. I think I may have held my breath from the time he slid until he got the truck trailer straight again and got out of his truck </em>(and put my truck in 4-wheel drive). Hubs is pretty good at keeping cools, but he WAS P**SED! I tried to say that “things like this happen,” but decided to get back in my truck, go on my way and call him later after the steam stopped coming out of his ears. Poor Hubs! He LOVES THAT truck! He did eventually shake it off, but still a little upset about that truck.

I on the other hand had a FANTASTIC day. I was busier than a bee. Real estate call, after real estate call-a complete nut house, but somehow that is how I work the best and am completely on my game! Still working at 6 pm I showed a couple with three kids their house (that they had put under contract this past weekend). There is something catching about a family of five being elated about their new digs. The kids ran around checking out (for at least the third time) each room with complete joy! The wife was planning where everything would go and the hubs was letting his wife just be happy. It completed my day like no other day I have had lately. I thought to myself as I said goodbye to them-this is why I sell houses-to help people realize their home purchasing dreams and build their life in their home.
So quite the day we both have had.

Thanks for reading!

My Boots are made for walking FAST!

Someone told me once that I don’t walk slow EVER-I walk everywhere with purpose. This is completely true. EVERYWHERE I go I have things to do-who doesn’t these days! This can cause a few issues-like almost knocking down the most senior real estate agent in the office. Now he is watching for me the next time I fly around the corner! (VERY embarassing-now I try to watch who is walking around where I am walking).

It got me thinking that life is a lot like hockey-going somewhere fast ALWAYS! LOL! I am not sure I could stay up on hockey skates-but if I could get everywhere QUICKER you never know! There are those that are competing with us in business-the defenseman. There are those that are on your team that are helping you score goals-the offense. The puck is passed back and forth constantly. Also like life-as most of us constantly juggle the work, the kids, housework, the chores outside (feeding horses, goats, the two cows) and the list goes on. Then there are the officials that are reffing the game. At a game in Denver I remember my son saying that the refs were completely unfair-I had to act like a mom and tell him “LIFE ISN’T FAIR.” (I think I may have told myself that I would NEVER say that to my child as my mom said it ALL THE TIME!). Then of course continued saying Ref are like BOSSES-they don’t always make the right call…hence I work for myself…oh hmmm, I may not always make the right call either, but I learn from those bad calls.

As for what I think…I will stay with my fast walking COWGIRL BOOTS!
