All this snow has been GREAT as we really needed it. It adds lots of animals related work! I actually LOVE when the horses are in the barn in their stalls-it seems like I get more one on one time with each of them as they aren’t all in a group. I have gotten to pet them more, brush them more, talk to them more and just be around them more (yes the snow day helped)! One other thing I do more is clean the stalls. This morning I spent well over and hour-which I really enjoyed-cleaning stalls-AND subsequently getting a work out. Mucking out stalls, hauling hay and wood shavings gets my heart pumping! I joke with my friends that doing all that is FREE (well maybe not since I am paying for the horses, hay, etc!) cross fit as it is life and it is EXERCISE-EVEN IF IT IS NOT AT THE GYM!

I cleaned my main mares stall and had to share a pic as she is “stall trained” and a very “clean” horse. She poops and pees in one area and it is super easy to clean her stall. Not so much for other four of them!

The cats were soaking up the hot sun as I cleaned the stalls and fed everyone.

This morning the boys stayed home from school (I thought it was going to be worse than yesterday – WHICH IT WASN’T) so they helped me with the horsies after they fed their 4-H piggies and goats.

After chores (and I went to the office) the boys sledded and sledded and built jumps and sledded some more! HUBS said they had a FREAKING blast outside-which made me feel slightly better that they didn’t play video games all day, but did some sort of exercise! LOL!

The sun is HOT so now we can bring on the MUD!!!!!!!

On Monday I joked with many people that I hoped school was cancelled and we had a snow day on Tuesday! Well when I woke up this morning I sent the peepettes to school and had my own snow day. My little lady’s school was cancelled, but the peepeete’s school was in session. Actually, hind sight is 20/20 as I really should have just kept them home. The roads were ridiculous! School should have been cancelled and if I was guessing I would say that tomorrow they will cancel school and it will stop snowing and be a semi-nice day-the school district got a lot of sh*t today on facebook (which they deleted-but some of us saw) for not closing school.

I did work some from home. I DO ADMIT that I didn’t do as much as I told myself I would do. This morning when I fed, I got to take my time. Usually I am rushing around like a fast walking, fast hay throwing, water flinging wild woman of the west! This morning all the horses got a curry combing and some petting time. It was fantastic. Even though it was cold outside this morning, in the stall barn I was in HEAVEN. It wasn’t that cold inside and it was so nice taking my time! Tonight I dawdled a little, but it was colder! And much snowier! We have over 20 inches and it is still snowing. I have been THANKING GOD that we are getting this much snow (and that I got a snow day)!

The peepettes have talked me into letting them stay home tomorrow if the roads are still this bad and it is still snowing (if a snow day is not called). I may not win the best mom of the year but I will be the most popular MOMMY-O in my household (WHICH I LOVE)!

When the peepettes got home and after they fed their 4-H animals, they went sledding in their cowboy boots (as they had left their snow boots outside and they got COVERED AND LOST by the snow). They had a blast as you can see! AND…I had so much fun watching them from the warm house with a brewski in hand!

[wpvideo k9qweXNZ]

Hope all of your are soaking up the sun somewhere warm OR AT LEAST staying warm in all this snow.

I leave you tonight saying SNOW ON! HEHEHEH!

I have VERY fond memories of 4-H and FFA. One being my first kiss on the state fair ground (as a very old teenager). But more seriously I was CRAZY about hog showmanship. I practiced and couldn’t wait for my FFA ag advisor to choose me to go to State Fair for our chapter’s representative to State Fair!

I have one of each peepette:…one that thrives on the showmanship and one that thrives on the social aspect of 4-H, which I think either way is GREAT as long as they take care of the piggies!

This year we moved to new place so we had to build a bigger and better pig palace! Hubs and I VOW that this is the last time we will build a piggy palace (thus we won’t move again!), so we made it large enough in case we need more piggy space – the last one was WAY too small, but it was a shed that we were given and fit four piggies (which was great)!

Piggy picking is this coming week (In Colorado-almost to Oklahoma) and the peepettes are VERY excited. My social Sr Peepette keeps asking all sorts of questions (I completely LOVE it when he is engaged in 4-H stuff): He wants to know when the barn is going to be done, when we are picking out pigs, what we are going to feed them, where we are going to walk them and most importantly, when he will see other 4-Hers (especially a nice girl he met at fair last year) etc. I LOVE IT! The Jr Peepette (remember he is the one that thought I should refer to them as Jr and Sr Peepettes) is more concerned with when he will get to show his pig at a Jack Pot show (seriously we don’t have piggies yet and he want to make sure I don’t FORGET to sign him up for the Jack Pot Shows that haven’t been announced yet).

I really thrive on the excitement of the new year of 4-H. A couple of years ago an extension agent was lecturing all the kids and parents that the parents shouldn’t live through their kids. Well I would have LOVED to stand up and argue with her (although that was against the rules) as I think there is a good way to live through your peepettes! We all can teach them the values of 4-H and raising animals-yes things have changed but the idea is still the same: learn about taking care of and feeding animals, learning how to show the animals and learning how to compete (and hopefully make a little money in the process!).

More will be coming about these peepettes and piggies as it is always interesting (and sometime funny) every single year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until Next Time!
Alisha (AKA Wild Woman of the West)

Are you one of “THOSE” women who want to have it all? I AM ONE OF THOSE WOMEN! I want to have happy, successful children, a happy hubs (of course), a set of busy businesses (why stop at two or three), have plenty of time to ride my horses…Time of course is the limiting factor. I am sure you deal with this on a daily basis as well. Boy can it be tiring…

This morning I thought I would “take it easy,” stay in my jammies, drink some coffee, do some computer work…Then I got to the office and all hell broke loose! Offers coming in, callings coming in for ads, appointments to take care of. I LOVED IT! Fortuantly when life is like this during the day I thrive in it. My brain seems to fire faster and my mind just goes on and on. But now I am TIRED!

So tonight I have an “appointment” with my little lady and jr peepette. We are making our own pizzas. As kind of a controlling Wild Woman, I have pledged to myself that I will let the little lady and the peepettes make as big of a mess as they want, put as much cheese and pepperoni (and olives for the little lady) as they want on their pizza in any order. This will be hard for me but I have told myself that I will concentrate on making my pizza PERFECT! They are going to have a blast-and we will have sauce, pepperoni, cheese and olive slices all over the counter and floor.
BUT when I clean it all up (or Hubs does and I watch drinking my glass of wine-just joking but it sounded nice) I will remember the fun we had not being all that perfect!

THE DAY AFTER : PIZZA NIGHT TURNED OUT AWESOME!Kids had a blast and I think their food tasted better since they made it!

Once again THANK YOU for spending your time with me!

My Sr Peepette is a hockey fanatic. It is his favorite sport and he is VERY good at it-and actually if he could skate all day, everyday I am sure he would! Jr Peepette started hockey years ago and then after an injury walking into the rink stopped playing. After four years he thinks he should try it again!

So he has been going to community open skate. Their friends go with them and they skate around and have a great time. I remember doing the same thing growing up but our ice skating rink was outside.

I had an open house early afternoon so Hubs dropped the Peepettes off to skate. The teenage girl working at the front counter started cussing at the peepettes-apparently one of the boys they were with yesterday got in trouble so the young girl was taking it out on my peepettes. I think it scared Jr Peepette more than Sr, but it really fired me up. Good thing I was “stuck” at my open house. How can a young girl think it is okay to cuss at little kids? That thought would never even cross my mind. I hope and pray by the time my peepettes and little lady are teenagers (and obviously even now) working they always respect others whether or not they are younger or older.

My peepettes tried to stick it out but the young girl knew they called their mom, so she continued to harass them and even got another teenage boy involved who then teased them for calling their mom. SERIOUSLY! Hubs will take it up with the Manager during the week (he is taking care of it as I am a little bit of a momma bear when my kids are messed with-which he has learned over the years! So to save him embarrassment he takes care of stuff like this now-part of the division of labor ;))

I am so proud of my peepettes. Instead of cussing back or getting in other trouble – they called me and they were still respectful. Good job peepettes! Mom is VERY PROUD of you!

From Peepette 10 year old: “We worked with the show boer goats today. Goats and I may be cold due to the winter snowing weather! (Basically I am freezing my butt off!). The goats may be warmer than me because of their hair. One goat’s name is Linebacker and the other is hearts. I shoveled snow in my jammies for the goats. I shoveled a figure eight in the snow so they could run around!

And I think the Wild Woman of the West (aka MOM) should call me the Jr Peepette. ”

Wild Woman of the West: I love that my JR PEEPETTE wants to be a part of this blog with me. I LOVE that he wrote the above paragraphs about the 4-H goats. It got me thinking about the responsibility of 4-H. We all take great care with this meat goat project. Two years ago after several months of the meat goat project the above JR Peepette had a very hard time letting go of the market goat. After a year off (last year he showed pigs with the now called Senior Peepette-12 year old) he decided he missed showing goats.

This year, so we could keep one, Junior Peepette chose a wether and doe. So the wether will serve the meat purpose and the doe will keep us all happy when the other is gone…

I am still practicing the conversation with our favorite vet when I ask him to artificially inseminate the doe goat a year from this September. This way we can get a GREAT sire to receive a GREAT show goat! The vet may faint…but I was thinking…sheep, goat…not too different…I hope!!!

The positive part (remember the hubs is extremely OPTIMISTIC) is that the Jr Peepette can raise his own show boer goats. I am so excited how this teaches Jr Peepeette the gift of life and that he can raise his own show animals and slowly grow his herd.

Mom is so proud of her peepettes!

Every member of my family is apple users and most likely abusers. We LOVE our iPhones, iPods, iPad etc. It is humorous to me that we all (I am included in that WE) are so attached to our iDevices. I run two businesses off that fantastic machine called the iPhone. I am not sure how my businesses could EVEN FUNCTION without it! The main positive is that I can leave town and still stay connected. The negative is that I can still stay CONNECTED!

Since these devices use all sorts of apps, there are a TON of passwords. Then another layer of protection on the passwords is the security questions! So I am really happy to have the extra security-BUT the one prob is that if I don’t remember the security questions FOR my peepette’s (kiddo) iPhone. GRRRRRRRRRR! So I trying finding the answer via the internet-NOPE! So I sent an email. It remains to be seen if I can actually figure the prob out! The only positive thing I can see is that it saves me money the longer my peepette doesn’t have the answer to the security questions (I have been trying to find the positive in EVERY situation as the hubs does!).

I always think that I can “remember” the usernames and passwords I set up, but rarely do. Thankfully the peepettes remember their own passwords for their iPhones and iPods. I seriously don’t think I could remember their passwords when I can’t remember my own.

SERIOUSLY. Life is all about these freaking passwords. Passwords to get into the real estate systems, emails, kindle, facebook, twitter and just about EVERYTHING! Sometime my own stuff is so secure I can’t even get in…
