Horsey, Horsey, Who Has a Horsey?

Ever since I was very little I wanted a nice, expensive horse.  It took about 30 years but I finally got exactly what I wanted.  My little lady (smallest child) caught on VERY quick at then two years old.  She became infatuated with horses-and by infatuated I mean live horses, pictures of horses, figurines of horses, stuffed animals of horses, games with horses (HORSES ON IPOD) ect…

Recently she went to my bestie’s house for the evening and came home wanting fuzzy horses.  Good thing I helping Santa get my bestie’s kids the fuzzy horses so I knew what the hell they were-after being reminded of course-ya I know-something I should have remembered.  So thankfully our trusty go to site had another set (by set I mean TWELVE MORE FIGURINES of horses) that could be two day shipped for FREE.  (I love free shipping and deals on stuff-and-I can’t help it as I come by being frugal genetically).

I wish I could find all the horse figurines in my house so I could  actually publish how many we have.  It may be a new record.  (I have been working on a record of my own for real horses in the barn but we won’t talk about that).

My little lady is starting riding lessons soon.  She already thinks she knows how to ride but it consists of her going where the horse wants to go.  But at least she is riding by herself (WITH A HELMET ON).  I have taught her a few things but as we all know the little ladies do not learn best from the MOMMY!

I have also always wanted to run barrels.  While I am working on that, I of course (as most competitive parents do) want to live (at least a little) through my kiddos!  So I ask my little lady if she is going to run barrels on a horse when she grows up-she says (and has since she was two) that she will run barrels ONLY if she can also do breakaway roping.  Yes she has know what breakaway roping was since she was 2.5 years old.   I am so glad that she has the horse fever like me…even if it means we have 500 horse figurines!

This is how Hillbillies Live!

And I mean Hillbillies in the kindest way possible-my husband (hubs) calls our family that. What exactly does he mean?

We just got home for a hockey trip. It was my job to start the fire (then I don’t have to carry in all the luggage!). Snow is covering EVERYTHING right now-almost 12 inches-ON THE WOOD PILE. I should explain that the wood is lleftover, cuts from two by fours we bought from a truss company. The pile sits right in front of the basement door IN THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE! Who does that? Apparently we do. And the main reason for the hillbilly comment from the hubs!

This takes us to the picture with me standing on the pile in my mule like western leather shoes (yes I should of had boots on but I was in a hurry). I am digging through the snow with gloves on-thinking to myself that I should have shoveled the snow off the pile-HUBS had to take picture and laugh at me in the process. SERIOUSLY! No make-up on and my butt sticking up in the air-no I am not showing that picture! It took me a while but after digging a little I found more than itsy, bitsy triangles.

YAY! Now my stove is full of wood (FOR NOW) and my house is getting warm.

I love my HILLBILLY life!

My Boots are made for walking FAST!

Someone told me once that I don’t walk slow EVER-I walk everywhere with purpose. This is completely true. EVERYWHERE I go I have things to do-who doesn’t these days! This can cause a few issues-like almost knocking down the most senior real estate agent in the office. Now he is watching for me the next time I fly around the corner! (VERY embarassing-now I try to watch who is walking around where I am walking).

It got me thinking that life is a lot like hockey-going somewhere fast ALWAYS! LOL! I am not sure I could stay up on hockey skates-but if I could get everywhere QUICKER you never know! There are those that are competing with us in business-the defenseman. There are those that are on your team that are helping you score goals-the offense. The puck is passed back and forth constantly. Also like life-as most of us constantly juggle the work, the kids, housework, the chores outside (feeding horses, goats, the two cows) and the list goes on. Then there are the officials that are reffing the game. At a game in Denver I remember my son saying that the refs were completely unfair-I had to act like a mom and tell him “LIFE ISN’T FAIR.” (I think I may have told myself that I would NEVER say that to my child as my mom said it ALL THE TIME!). Then of course continued saying Ref are like BOSSES-they don’t always make the right call…hence I work for myself…oh hmmm, I may not always make the right call either, but I learn from those bad calls.

As for what I think…I will stay with my fast walking COWGIRL BOOTS!
